EFFECT OF FOLLOWERSHIP BEHAVIOR ON LEADERSHIP STYLES IN SOUTH GONDAR ZONE PUBLIC SECTOR ORGANIZATIONS
Abstract
Despite the immense contributions of followers, they have been neglected and, studies about them are insufficient and paused. This study was conducted to assess practices of followership styles and leadership styles, identify the effect of followership styles on leadership styles in the public Sectors employees in South Gondar Zone. This Cross-sectional design measured leadership style by the independent variables which include active engagement, critical thinking and followership styles. The study showed that, in South Gondar Zone public sectors, the most practiced followership styles is exemplary behavior (2=137.31, N=268, p<0.001) and the leadership style are transactional style, ranked first; transformational and laissez-fair followed (2=49.93, N=268, p<0.001). Leaders show the specific style as response for employees’ characteristics.
